Rather than relying on your boiler heating your shower – and waiting for it to heat up! – an electric shower provides instantaneous hot water as soon as you hit the on button. Popular brands including Mira and Triton produce numerous designs depending on your usage, including electric power showers that offer a superior spray, similar to a traditional shower unit.

An electric shower costs between $100 and $300 depending on the design and manufacturer of your unit. Unless you are a certified engineer, you’ll need to pay for installation, which can vary. This is a necessity to ensure your insurance policy is valid as we all known water and electricity don’t mix!

On the plus side, an electric shower removes the reliance away from your boiler, only heats water when required and general costs less to run. It is advisable that you consider purchasing an electric shower if you are serious about saving money and ensuring you have hot water in the event your boiler breaks down.
