How to Paint Your Vinyl Siding the Correct Way

Vinyl siding looks great when it’s new, but time and weather can cause it to look faded and rough. Vinyl siding is easy to paint if you follow a few steps before applying the paint.

Just like wood has to be prepared for new paint, so does your vinyl siding! The siding has to completely clean and the best way to clean it is with a pressure cleaner. You can purchase cleaners especially made for vinyl at your local hardware store.

Unless the siding is really old and worn, a de-glosser should be used to remove the shine from the surface. The next step is to apply a primer to give the new paint a base to adhere to.

Most professionals recommend that you use an airless spray painter, but you can use rollers and brushes if you’d prefer. You should purchase a latex paint, the latex will expand and contract with the siding.
