It is easy to overlook lighting fixtures, but these can become dirty and dated so replace them where needed, or just give take them down and give them a really good clean every now and then. Replacing and updating room furnishings like cushions, curtains and lamps is a cheap and effective way to freshen up living spaces, and you should also make sure any tears or stains in wall paper and carpets are fixed.
It can also be a good idea to give all the windows and glass doors a really good polish and put a fresh coat of paint on skirting boards, window frames and doors. These simple and easy touches can really brighten up a room and make it feel clean and fresh again.
